Superior is a modifier that occurs on armor and weapons throughout the game. It can occur on its own or in combination with either or both socketed and ethereal items. It can not appear on magic, rare, crafted, set, or unique items. Superior items are of higher quality than their normal counterparts, but are usually less powerful than magical items. Superior items are able to gain the following bonuses:

Superior Armor and Shields

Either or both of the following modifiers can exist on an item:
  • +5-15% Enhanced Defense
  • Increase Maximum Durability 10-15%

Superior Weapons

Either one or two of the following modifiers can exist on an item. However, %Enhanced Damage and +Maximum Damage can not exist together on the same item.
  • +5-15% Enhanced Damage
  • Increase Maximum Durability 10-15%
  • +1-3 Attack Rating
  • +1 Maximum Damage

Superior socketed items that have rolled the 15% Enhanced Defense or Damage modifier are sought after by players because these bonuses are retained on the item when it is used to create a runeword and added to the runeword's bonuses. The other possible bonuses of Superior items are generally considered to be moot.
