Hell's Forge is the second quest of Act IV. The player is tasked with smashing Mephisto's Soulstone at the Hellforge.
Further Tips and Information
When you approach the Hellforge the quest log should appear and you should encounter Hephasto the Armorer, a Unique Overlord boss similar to [[2|The Smith}}. Much like The Smith, Hephasto has a powerful melee attack and moves fast. It's best to lure him away from the forge and kill him when he's alone; it might be a tricky fight however. When he dies he will drop the Hellforge Hammer. Clear the area near the Forge and equip the hammer. When you click on the Hellforge, Mephisto's Soulstone should disappear from your inventory and appear on the forge. Attack the forge; after two swings the Soulstone should shatter into several fragments and a storm of souls is unleashed.
Several gems will drop and a rune; a nice reward for completing the quest. The quality of them increase with the difficulty, which has led to many people doing Hellforge runs: rushing a new character to this quest on Hell difficulty in order to get good runes quickly.

Before Given
Hadriel: Halt! Before venturing into Diablo's lair, go to the Hellforge with Mephisto's Soulstone. Place the stone on the Hellforge and use the Hellforge Hammer to destroy it.
Quest Initiation
Deckard Cain (with the Soulstone): The time has come for you to destroy Mephisto's Soulstone! Take the Stone to the Hellforge. Place it upon the forge and strike it soundly with the Hammer. Only by doing this can you prevent Mephisto from manifesting in this world ever again.
Deckard Cain (without the Soulstone):The time has come to destroy Mephisto's Soulstone! Although I picked it up before entering the Infernal Gate, I believe you should carry out this crucial mission. Take the Stone to the Hellforge. Place it upon the forge and strike it soundly with the Hammer. Only by doing this can you prevent Mephisto from manifesting in this world ever again.
Before Completion

Quest Completion
Deckard Cain: Congratulations, hero! Surely, even Diablo, himself, sensed the fury unleashed when you smashed his Brother's Soulstone.
After Completion
Hadriel: Proceed, hero, into Terror's lair. Know that Diablo's innermost sanctum is hidden by five seals. Only by opening each of these seals can you clear your way to the final battle.
