Hadriel is a non-player character (NPC) from Diablo II.
Diablo II[]
The Angel Hadriel stands at the entrance to the Chaos Sanctuary in Act IV of Diablo II. His only purpose, it seems, is to direct and remind the player to destroy Mephisto's Soulstone in the Hellforge before proceeding on to the final battle with Diablo himself. Though, even then, he is easily ignored.
According to the Dungeons & Dragons edition, To Hell and Back, Hadriel is not physically present in Hell, rather it is his projection that the player encounters.
Dialog[]
Before completing Hell's Forge quest:
"Halt! Before venturing into Diablo's lair, go to the Hellforge with Mephisto's Soulstone. Place the stone on the Hellforge and use the Hellforge Hammer to destroy it."
After completing Hell's forge quest:
"Proceed, hero, into Terror's lair. Know that Diablo's innermost sanctum is hidden by five seals. Only by opening each of these seals can you clear your way to the final battle."
Trivia[]
Hadriel is voiced by Bill Roper, who also provides the voice of Ogden the Tavern Keeper and Diablo in both Diablo I and Diablo II.
