Not much is known about Duriel except that he aided the other Lesser Evils in banishing the three [[Prime Evils]] during the [[Dark Exile]]. [[Azmodan]] and [[Belial]] are generally thought to have been the two driving forces behind it, and it is unknown how much of a part Duriel played in it all. He has never appeared or been mentioned in any of the books, and he makes his only appearance as a boss in [[Diablo II}}. Unlike Andariel however, Duriel has no connection to the act in itself and only acts as a gatekeeper. He is placed there to keep [[Tyrael]] imprisoned in the tomb and prevent anyone from following [[Baal]] and [[Diablo]] should they follow Diablo's trail into the tomb.

Duriel, the Lord of Pain or Prince of Pain, is one of the Lesser Evils in the Diablo universe, and the final boss of Act II in Diablo II.

It is unknown what connection, if any, he has to the Mistress of Pain revealed before the realease of Diablo III.
