Apocalypse is arguably the most powerful spell in the game. When cast, it damages all nearby enemies, and the spell cannot be resisted. It can be blocked, but with the number of enemies that can be hit, and the nice damage increase it receives at higher levels, it deals very good damage. The mana cost is exorbitant however, even for a fully maxed Sorcerer.

In regular Diablo I, it cannot be learned and can only be found on staves. In Hellfire it can be learned however, but in return it only strikes monsters that the player can currently see.
